In November of 2024, the Los Angeles police department arrested doctor Babak Hajhosseini following an investigation into allegations that Hajhosseini drugged and raped a woman earlier in the year. Hajhosseini was charged with two felony counts of rape by use of drugs; one felony count of rape of an unconscious or asleep person; one felony count of oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance; three felony counts of oral copulation of an unconscious or asleep person; and one felony count of sodomy of an unconscious person. The LAPD now suspects there are more victims. According to his LinkedIn profile, Hajhosseini is the founder, President, and CEO of Wound and Burn Centers of America. He also did a clinical fellowship in wound healing at the Stanford University School of Medicine from July 2017 to June 2020.

According to media reports, a woman came forward and accused Hajhosseini of drugging and raping her at his home in August of 2024. Hajhosseini, 42, a visiting specialist at Wound and Burn Centers of America in Los Angeles and Catalina Island Health, was arrested the day after Thanksgiving on suspicion of sexual assault of an unconscious person. The victim told authorities that she met Hajhosseini through a job recruitment website, and LAPD suspects he may have used the same ruse to prey on other women. They believe Hajhosseini offered high-paying hourly wages with the potential for overtime after hours at his residence in Beverly Hills, California.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman released a statement,

“Our office’s Sex Crimes Division is working diligently to bring justice to the victim in this case. The case remains under investigation, and we encourage anyone with information about the defendant or similar incidents to contact the Los Angeles Police Department. Babak Hajhosseini is charged in case 24CJCF07892 with two felony counts of rape by use of drugs; one felony count of rape of an unconscious or asleep person; one felony count of oral copulation by anesthesia or controlled substance; three felony counts of oral copulation of an unconscious or asleep person; and one felony count of sodomy of an unconscious person. Hajhosseini was arrested on November 26 by the Los Angeles Police Department. At an arraignment on December 27, Hajhosseini pleaded not guilty to all charges. A preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for February 13 in Dept. 50 of the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center.”

Hajhosseini pleaded not guilty to all of the charges in December 2024 and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in February 2025. He is currently out of custody after posting a $2.175 million bond. If convicted as charged, Hajhosseini faces a maximum sentence of 34 years in prison. Finding the right medical provider can be challenging. We seek out seasoned professionals who possess a good bedside manner, compassion, and empathy.  When patients finally decide on one, they hope to feel better over time and not be violated by the very person with whom we place our trust. Healthcare providers hold a position of power in the physician-patient relationship. It is both unacceptable and unlawful for a healthcare professional to touch a patient in any sexual manner or practice any sexual misconduct while treating the patient.

Horowitz Law has filed numerous sexual misconduct claims against medical professionals on behalf of patients who were inappropriately touched in their care.  Under no circumstances is a doctor or nurse permitted to have sexual contact with a patient.  If you have been a victim of sexual assault or sexual battery at a medical office or facility, or if you know someone who has, please contact our law firm at 888-283-9922 or send an e-mail to sexual abuse lawyer Adam Horowitz at [email protected] for a free consultation.
