Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson is facing allegations of sexual misconduct after multiple men publicly accused him of making unwanted sexual advances and other inappropriate sexual conduct.

The allegations became public during a Fort Myers City Council meeting on September 21, 2026, when two men addressed the Council about their alleged experiences with Anderson. Since then, Anderson has denied wrongdoing, while community members and organizations have called for his resignation and an independent investigation.

Sexual Misconduct Allegations Against Kevin Anderson

According to media reports, 23-year-old local actor Kagan Vann accused Anderson of propositioning him for sex during an encounter at a downtown Fort Myers bar in November 2024.

Vann alleges Anderson became increasingly aggressive after his advances were rejected. Police and emergency medical personnel responded that night after Vann became ill and disoriented. Vann later identified Anderson to police and alleged that the mayor had offered him money in exchange for sexual activity.

A second man, 18-year-old Florida Gulf Coast University student Dominic Hendricks, has also publicly accused Anderson of sexual misconduct. Hendricks alleges that Anderson sexually harassed him during a Fourth of July event in Fort Myers in 2026.

According to media reports, the allegations against Anderson include:

  • Vann alleges Anderson propositioned him for sex during a November 2024 encounter at a downtown Fort Myers bar.
  • Vann alleges Anderson offered him money in exchange for sexual activity.
  • Vann has alleged he may have been drugged during the encounter after becoming ill and disoriented.
  • Hendricks alleges Anderson asked him inappropriate and personal questions of a sexual nature during a July 4, 2026 event.
  • Hendricks alleges Anderson attempted to solicit sex from him.
  • Both men publicly addressed the allegations during a Fort Myers City Council meeting on September 21, 2026.

Other allegations involving Anderson have also been reported publicly.

Accusers Speak Out About Alleged Sexual Misconduct

Both Vann and Hendricks publicly addressed Anderson during the September 21 Fort Myers City Council meeting.

Speaking about his alleged experience with Anderson, Vann said:

“You propositioned me for sex. You — on top of that — when I kept saying no, were being pushy and forceful.”

Hendricks also addressed Anderson directly, stating:

“On the Fourth of July, Kevin Anderson sexually harassed me. He tried to solicit sex from me, asking me unprofessional personal questions about sexual matters.”

Prior Law Enforcement Review

The allegations involving Vann were reported to law enforcement following the November 2024 incident.

According to media reports, the matter was referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for review. FDLE determined there was no evidence of criminal misconduct, and the inquiry was closed.

No criminal charges have been filed against Anderson in connection with the publicly reported allegations.

Kevin Anderson Denies Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Anderson has denied wrongdoing and described the allegations against him as false. He has also stated that his interactions with the men have been taken out of context to create a false narrative.

Anderson has not resigned as mayor. However, since the allegations became public, he has stepped down from several community boards, including the United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades; Valerie's House; the Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni Association; and the Foundation for Lee County Public Schools.

The Lee County NAACP and other community members have called for Anderson to resign and for an independent investigation into the allegations.

Public Officials Occupy Positions of Trust

Elected officials occupy positions of significant authority, influence, and public trust. Allegations that a public official used that position or influence to make unwanted sexual advances or engage in sexual misconduct deserve to be taken seriously and appropriately investigated.

Individuals have the right to be free from unwanted sexual advances, sexual harassment, coercion, and exploitation regardless of the position or authority held by the person accused of the conduct. The allegations against Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson remain allegations, and Anderson has denied wrongdoing.
