Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Claude P. Boudreaux:
Claude Boudreaux was ordained as a priest of the Society of Jesus in 1955. He spent time in India, Sri Lanka, Louisiana, Texas, and Italy. In December of 2004, an accusation surfaced that Claude Boudreaux had sexually abused a minor almost 30 years prior. The Jesuit order removed Boudreaux from active ministry after determining the accusation was credible, and sent him to extensive treatment. The Jesuits did not release any specific information about the alleged abuse or the gender/age of the victim who came forward.
Boudreaux was then assigned to live in Jesuit communities in New Orleans and Wisconsin without any access to minors.
He died on August 5th, 2016.
Claude Boudreaux has been included on the Jesuits' Central and Southern list of credibly accused clergy in 2018 and on the Houma-Thibodaux diocese's list in January of 2019.
In April of 2020, the Archdiocese of New Orleans filed for bankruptcy protection. As part of its bankruptcy, the Archdiocese of New Orleans will be reviewing and paying claims for anyone sexually abused by diocesan priests and lay employees. This will likely include claims filed on behalf of anyone whose case may be beyond the statute of limitations.
