Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Dale Guidry

In January 2019, the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux publicly named Fr. Guidry on its list of priests who admitted to, or were convicted of, sexual misconduct with children after he was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor in 2009.

The priest pleaded guilty in 2010 and was sentenced to five years in prison. Roughly a year after his conviction, the Amarillo Diocese removed Fr. Dale Guidry from ministry.

Previous Allegations and Leave

Although the Amarillo Diocese removed Fr. Guidry in 2011, church officials within the diocese seemingly placed him on leave nearly a decade before his conviction. According to news reports, Fr. Guidry "took a leave to pre-empt his removal."

While details about Fr. Guidry's leave are unknown, sources say he was accused of molesting a minor.

Father Dale Guidry's Career and Whereabouts

Ordained in 1982, Fr. Dale Guidry served approximately 17 years before his leave in 1999. Fr. Guidry worked in parishes in Louisiana, Texas, and Hawaii during his career. According to his assignment history, Fr. Guidry also worked with schools.

During his time at St. Theresa's Co-Cathedral, more than 688 students were enrolled. While at Our Lady of Sorrows, a school with more than 200 students, Fr. Guidry was the director of religious education.

After taking leave in 1999, and before his arrest and imprisonment in 2010, Fr. Dale Guidry's whereabouts are largely unknown. Fr. Guidry died on October 20, 2013.
