Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Edito D Amora:
Fr. Edito D Amora (D'Amora) was ordained in the Philippines to the Diocese of Dipolog in 1980. According to media reports, in 1991, Amora was accused of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl on two occasions while he was visiting her family home in San Diego in 1983. While the father also notified San Diego County authorities, it is unclear whether Amora was ever charged with a crime.
In March 2007, Amora's name appeared on the Diocese of San Diego list of priests with credible allegations. His personnel file was among those released in October 2010, however, it is clear that he was one of the cases that were settled. The documents were released as part of a $200 million settlement San Diego reached with 144 victims. Amora was one of 48 priests named in the 10,000 pages.
According to court documents, Amora was among the priests and laypeople the Diocese of Orange paid out a total of $100 million in settlements in 2005. His individual case was settled for $1.42 million. Whether the case outlined in the San Diego documents is the same one the Orange County diocese paid out is unclear.
Amora's current whereabouts and whether he has access to children are unknown, although it is believed that he has been living in Lake City, Florida since 2017.
