Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Edward B. Pritchard:
According to media reports, in 1986, the Archdiocese of Washington placed Father Edward B. Pritchard on leave and sent him for evaluation and treatment following allegations that he sexually abused a 14-year old altar boy at Holy Redeemer in Kensington in the 1970s. He was eventually returned to ministry.
In 1995, he was again accused, eventually arrested, for the abuse of three altar boys. Father Pritchard was permanently removed from ministry. In December 1995, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years probation.
Pritchard died in November 2002.
In December 2006, at least one claim against Pritchard was included in a large group settlement with the Archdiocese.
In October 2018, Father Pritchard's name appeared publicly on the Archdiocese of Washington's list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors.
