Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Francis Burris:
Fr. Francis Burris was ordained a Jesuit priest of the Oregon Province in 1937 who served in multiple dioceses including in the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, in 2018, he was included on the Jesuits West Province list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted an allegation of abuse reported in 2009 that took place in 1944 or 1945. At the time of the abuse, Burris was assigned to St. Mary's Mission in Omak, Washington. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse is unknown.
According to media reports, Burris' whereabouts after 1950 are unknown. Burris' name was included on the Province's 2011 list of "perpetrators of sexual abuse." The Jesuits agreed to post the list on its website as part of its bankruptcy reorganization plan.
Burris may have been dismissed in 1950.
