Father James Walsh was ordained a priest in 1943 for the Archdiocese of San Francisco. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Santa Rosa when it was established in 1962. He was assigned to the St. Helena Catholic Church in the 1960s and oversaw the opening of the St. Helena Catholic School.
According to media reports, Father Walsh's name was included on a list of priests credibly accused of sexual abuse released by the Diocese of Santa Rosa in 2019. According to this list, Fr. Walsh was accused in 2005 of sexual abuse that allegedly occurred in 1965 while serving at St. Helena Church. The details of the sexual abuse allegations, including the victim's age/gender, are unknown.
He died in 1993.
