Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Jerold W. Lindner:

Fr. Jerold Lindner is a Jesuit priest that worked in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, Archdiocese of San Francisco, Diocese of Oakland, and the Diocese of San Jose. According to media reports, during his time at St. Ignatius College Prep in the Archdiocese of San Francisco, Lindner was accused of sexually abusing at least six children. In 1992, a parent of one of Linder's alleged victims reported the abuse to the principal of Loyola High School in Los Angeles, California.

In response, Linder was placed on leave and sent to St. Luke Institute, an institution known for treating priests accused of child sexual abuse. The Jesuits found the allegations not credible and returned Lindner to ministry.

According to media reports, in 1998, a civil lawsuit settled that alleged Lindner sexually abused two boys in 1975. The lawsuit accused Lindner of using threats to coerce the boys to remain silent about the abuse. Lindner was again sent to St. Luke Institute.

In 2003, Lindner was named in another civil lawsuit, which alleged that he sexually abused two children from 1973-1983. Lindner reportedly sexually abused at least 10 victims, including his own nieces and nephews, the three youngest were five years old. In 2001, Lindner was removed from the ministry and placed at the Los Gatos retirement home.

In 2010, one of Lindner's alleged victims assaulted him. Lindner was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' list of priests accused of sexual misconduct involving minors. He is also listed on the Oakland Diocese's list in 2019 and on the Jesuits West's list in 2018.
