Fr. John Wiley – Diocese of Ogdensburg

Father John Wiley

Ordained: 1956

Died: 1984

Assigned as Follows:

  • 1969-1970:      St. Mary's (Potsdam, NY)

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father John Wiley:

Father John Wiley was ordained to the priesthood in the Diocese of Ogdensburg in 1956. According to media reports, in November 2018, his name was included on the Diocese of Ogdensburg list of 28 priests who were credibly accused of sexual misconduct with a minor or a vulnerable adult. The number of alleged victims or the time frame that the alleged abuse occurred was not disclosed. It noted that Father Wiley died in February of 1984.

Diocesan officials had previously said they would not release the names, largely to protect the privacy of victims. Each name on the list has been internally investigated and the Diocesan Review Board found that the allegations were credible.
