Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Jose Chavarin:
Father Jose Chavarin, a native of Mexico, was ordained a priest who served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of San Diego, as well as on the Metropolitan Tribunal of the Archdiocese, which handles those issues relating to marriage. According to media reports, in July 2008, the Archdiocese of San Francisco released a statement that Father Chavarin had been accused of committing sexual abuse against several minors in the San Diego area in the 1980's. Two of the victims were brothers and another unrelated boy was abused around the same time.
When confronted by the diocese, Father Chavarin denied any misconduct. He was immediately was placed on administrative leave. That same weekend, the diocese received a voicemail message saying that Chavarin had fled back to his native country of Mexico.
His current whereabouts are unknown.
