Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Lloyd Hebert:

Fr. Lloyd Hebert was ordained a priest in 1957, and served in multiple parishes in the Diocese of Lafayette. According to media reports, in April 2019, he was publicly named on the Diocese of Lafayette's disclosure list of "priests against whom credible allegations have been made regarding sexual abuse of a minor or vulnerable adult." Information about the date, age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the Diocese of Lafayette.

In 1986, a young man reportedly told his attorney that Fr. Hebert had abused him as an adolescent in Opelousas. The victim's attorney issued a subpoena to depose Hebert; however, an attorney for the Diocese of Lafayette stipulated to liability in open court, which ended the attorney's discovery and prevented Fr. Hebert from being deposed. After the allegation surfaced, the priest left Opelousas to live with family. According to a deposition given by Monsignor Larroque of the Diocese of Lafayette, Fr. Hebert was suspended in the 1980's after the diocese received a complaint of child sexual abuse against him. In a 1988 deposition, Diocese of Lafayette Bishop Frey stated that Fr. Lloyd Hebert was a known child molester.

Fr. Herbert died in 2002.
