Father Paul Coppola was ordained a Franciscan priest in 1951. He entered the Diocese of Buffalo in 1962 and was incardinated in 1966. Father Coppola began serving as a teacher at Bishop Turner High School and as a weekend assistant at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, both in Buffalo. He also served as a football, wrestling and baseball coach at Bishop Turner and as the choral director for St. Joseph New Cathedral. He was involved in a number of organizations, including the Boys Club of America. He retired in 1983, and died in November 2006.
According to media reports, in November 2018, Father Coppola's name was included in the Diocese of Buffalo's updated list of priests with substantiated claims of sexual abuse of a minor. The original list was published in March 2018, and includes deceased priests only if they have more than one allegation.
