Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Paul Csik:
Father Paul Csik was a part of the religious order known as the Salesians of Don Bosco and served under the Archdiocese of New Orleans. In 2010, an allegation was made against Father Paul Csik for abuse that was said to have occurred in the 1960's. The alleged abuse was at the site of a cluster of allegations in Marrero, Louisiana. Hope Haven was an orphanage in Marrero that was subject to many abuse allegations throughout the 2000's.
In November of 2018, The Archdiocese of New Orleans released a list of clergy members who were the subject of allegations during the time they worked for the diocese. The list includes priests and clergy, many who also served at Hope Haven. On the list of 57 abusive clergy members released by the archdiocese, eight were credibly accused of abuse, and at one point spent time at Hope Haven. Father Paul Csik was added to the list for his time at Hope Haven. He served as a superior in the 1960's, according to newspaper archives.
Paul Csik died in 1970.
In April of 2020, the Archdiocese of New Orleans filed for bankruptcy protection. As part of its bankruptcy, the Archdiocese of New Orleans will be reviewing and paying claims for anyone sexually abused by diocesan priests and lay employees.
