Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Robert Kurilec:
Fr. Robert Kurilec was ordained a priest for the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart. According to the Diocese of San Bernardino, Kurilec was accused of sexually abusing children in 1970 and 1972 in Indiana, Illinois, and Maryland.
The Diocese allegedly learned of the allegations in 1987, reported to the US Navy in 1988, and subsequently reported it to law enforcement in 2002. At some point, the Diocese of San Bernardino permanently banned Kurilec from ministry in the Diocese, and the Vatican sentenced him to a life of prayer and penance.
Kurilec was included in the Diocese of San Bernardino's 2018 list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. His current whereabouts and whether he has had access to children since 2018 are unknown.
