Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father Rodolfo Delgado:

A long-time priest in Sacramento's Diocese, Fr. Rodolfo Delgado, was suspended and removed from ministry while working as the pastor of St. Philomene's Parish in Sacramento, CA after a sexual abuse allegation surfaced. According to media reports, in 2006, Delgado sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy from 1983-1985 while at St. Joseph's in Rio Vista and at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Sacramento, CA.

The man who reported his abuse later filed a civil suit against the Sacramento Diocese in 2009. The now 41-year-old victim alleges the incidents were ongoing for two years and mainly took place at the main cathedral in Sacramento, as well as at a private residence. The victim's attorney states, "He gradually came to grips with what had happened to him and felt a burden to reach out to others who may have been harmed by Delgado." A forensic psychologist working on the case said the assaults were severe, aggressive, and highly doubtful that this behavior hasn't continued.

The Sacramento Diocese said there was a "semblance of truth" which warranted further investigation. After Delgado was removed from ministry, he was later assigned to a life of prayer and penance.

Delgado was included on the Diocese of Sacramento 2019 list of priests credibly accused of child sexual abuse.

He is currently living in Northern California.
