Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Rolando Garcia:
Fr. Rolando Garcia was ordained for the Archdiocese of Miami in 1986.
In 2007, Garcia was accused in a civil suit of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy in 1989 at St. John Bosco in Little Havana in Miami, Florida. Garcia allegedly gave the victim, who was an altar boy, gifts and money, and then abused him after gaining his trust. The lawsuit settled out of court in 2009.
In 2012, a new suit was filed alleging abuse in the 1980s when Garcia was in seminary in Palm Beach County. He was suspended for 10 days before returning to active ministry. According to the Archdiocese of Miami, Garcia passed the polygraph test.
In 2012, Garcia was also accused of covering up abuse that took place by another priest. According to media reports, Garcia paid the boy to keep quiet about the abuse that took place at the hands of another priest.
Then, a new suit was filed in 2012 claiming abuse beginning in 1994. According to the plaintiff, the abuse took place at Church of the Little Flower in Hollywood, Florida and he was 16 years old at the time. Garcia denied all of the allegations. He was removed without privileges but then was resigned just a month later.
In November of 2012, Garcia resigned.
In 2020, Garcia was listed in the Office of Statewide Prosecution's Report On Sexual Abuse In the Catholic Church In Florida.
