Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Ronald Sajdak:
Father Ronald Sajdak was ordained to the priesthood in 1996. According to media reports, in November 2018, he was suspended from the ministry for more than six months after the Diocese of Buffalo received an allegation that he had sexually abused a boy. The alleged abuse occurred over a 10-year period and started when Sajdak was in the seminary before he was ordained as a priest.
The alleged victim was age 13 or 14 when the abuse first occurred. He claimed that Father Sajdak blackmailed him with incriminating photos for almost a decade to keep him quiet. According to the Diocese, Father Sajdak was only 2 and a half years older than the boy, and the "conduct" ended almost fifteen years prior to his ordination. A lawyer who represents the diocese, said that because the sexual encounter happened when Father Sajdak was in the seminary, it in effect did not count. Following the recommendation of the Diocese Review Board, Father Sajdak was returned to active ministry in December 2018.
