Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Steven Wolpert:
Fr. Steven Wolpert was ordained a priest of the Redemptorist Fathers in 1980. Wolpert retired in 1988. According to media reports, in March 2008, he pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony charge of "involuntary deviate sexual intercourse" with an 8-year-old boy that occurred from 2006 to 2007. He also admitted to allowing children to sleep with him while he was nude.
"I was outraged to read that you want people to think this happened just one time with just one child," the assistant district attorney told the court, "and that you say that the child violated boundaries and you were unable to stop him, a 400 lb. man unable to stop an eight-year-old child."
He was sentenced to nine to eighteen years in prison and was placed on the National Sex Offender Registry for life. He was denied parole in 2016 and 2017 and is reportedly still in prison in Pennsylvania.
