Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Father William Alcuin Tasch

Father William Alcuin Tasch was a priest from the Order of Saint Benedict in the Archdiocese of Baltimore in Maryland. In 2019, Fr. Tasch was listed on the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of Minors list. Fr. Tasch's name also appears on the St. Vincent Archabbey's (Benedictines) list of priests credibly accused of sexual misconduct with minors. In April 2023, Maryland's Attorney General released a report alleging 156 Catholic clergy members sexually abused at least 600 children over six decades. The report lists the names of the abusers, including Father Tasch.

According to the AG's report, a victim reported in 1994 that they had been sexually abused by Fr. Tasch beginning in the 1950s, when the victim was in third grade. The victim was a student at the parish school and an altar boy at the Church of the Fourteen Holy Martyrs in Baltimore. The report says that Fr. Tasch continued to sexually abuse the victim until 1960.

In 2003, a victim reported having been sexually abused by Fr. Tasch in 1955 while the victim was a student at the parish school at the Church of the Fourteen Holy Martyrs in Baltimore. During a summer carnival at the parish, Fr. Tasch approached the victim and befriended him. The victim became an altar boy and assigned to Fr. Tasch. Fr. Tasch would regularly invite the victim to the rectory, where he sexually abused him. This occurred continuously for approximately one year before the victim was replaced by another student, according to the Attorney General's report.

Fr. Tasch died in 1982.
