Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Father William White:
Father William White was ordained to the priesthood of the Diocese of Buffalo in 1958. He served in multiple roles including as an associate director at Buffalo Boys Town, as well as, associate pastor of multiple parishes. According to media reports, in 1997, a man reported to the Archdiocese of New York that had sexually abused him over a three-year-period in the 1970's. The alleged abuse began when he was a 17-year-old Stepinac student. Father White admitted to the abuse, and the victim received a small settlement in 1998.
Father White removed from ministry April 2002, when the clergy sex abuse scandals became a focus of attention in the media. He was laicized in 2004 when new allegations of child sexual abuse emerged against him. A lawsuit stated that he sexually abused a boy, ages 9-11, from 1959 to 1961 at Holy Cross parish in Manhattan. He was accused of child sexual abuse by 11 men from 1961-1993.
In April 2019, Father White's name was added to the New York Archdiocese's list of accused clergy. In August 2019, he was named in a lawsuit filed under the New York Child Victims Act, alleging that he sexually abused of a boy from 1972-1973. The victim was age 11-12 when the abuse began.
