On October 20, 2025, the Broward Sheriff's Office detectives arrested Ronison Exavier, an assistant athletic director and alumnus of Highlands Christian Academy in Deerfield Beach. Exavier, age 24, is being charged with three counts of soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct by an authority figure, two counts of touch or strike battery, and two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation, after being accused of inappropriately touching multiple female students and engaging in sexual misconduct while employed at the private Christian school.
Additional charges were filed against Exavier on October 29, 2025 after two more alleged victims came forward. There are now a total of four alleged victims identified by law enforcement, all of whom were students.
Details of the Allegations Against Ronison Exavier
According to media reports, the investigation into Exavier began earlier this month after a 13-year-old student said she was inappropriately touched by him in his office.
In that incident, the student reportedly went to Exavier’s office to retrieve a lost item. According to the arrest affidavit:
- Exavier commented on the girl’s clothing, telling her how she should “modify it to show off her buttocks.”
- He then allegedly squeezed her buttocks, causing the student to experience a panic attack in the school restroom afterwards.
In a separate incident, a 16-year-old student claims that two similar incidents of abuse were committed upon her during a stretching session. Exavier allegedly got on his knees behind her, pulled her body toward him, and pressed his groin against her buttocks for approximately 30 seconds.
Authorities say the inappropriate conduct occurred on campus and during school activities. Detectives believe there may be additional victims and have encouraged anyone with information to come forward.
Exavier admitted to law enforcement that he gave one of the minors a hug in his office and said that his hand may have inadvertently toucher her buttocks. He also said the lines between himself and the student had become "blurred." He was booked into the Broward Main Jail on $75,000 bond. At his bond hearing, a judge ordered that he have no contact with the victims or any minors and that he stay away from all Broward County school properties.
School's Response
Officials at Highlands Christian Academy said they were alerted to possible misconduct by a staff member who witnessed concerning behavior. The school stated that administrators immediately placed Exavier on administrative leave, notified the Florida Department of Children and Families, and cooperated with law enforcement.
After the investigation began, Exavier was terminated and is permanently banned from campus and all school-related activities.
A release from the school stated:
“"Highlands Christian Academy continues to cooperate fully with all investigative authorities," the updated statement read. "Names of the alleged victims will not be released to protect their privacy and we continue to pray for and support those families. We also ask for the community’s understanding and support through the process."
Sexual Abuse by Teachers and Coaches: A Breach of Trust
When a trusted educator or coach is accused of sexual misconduct, the trauma can ripple throughout the school community. Under Florida law, it is a serious criminal offense for any authority figure—including teachers, coaches, or staff—to solicit or engage in sexual conduct with a student.
Such cases often involve:
- Abuse of power and trust, especially when victims are minors under supervision.
- Institutional responsibility, if the school failed to prevent or properly address misconduct.
- Civil legal remedies allow survivors to seek damages for negligence or emotional harm.
