Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Monsignor Henry Bezou:
Henry C. Bezou was not only a monsignor, but also a former superintendent of Archdiocesan schools for New Orleans. In August of 2019, the archdiocese settled with a man who claimed that Monsignor Bezou raped him in 1977 when he was just 9-years-old. The man said he was serving as an altar boy at St. Francis Xavier in Metairie at the time. He also claimed that he had been "threatened and silenced for decades." The Archdiocese of New Orleans then stated that it settled with the man to provide counseling, but had no intention of adding Henry Bezou to the list of accused priests.
Henry Bezou died in 1989 at the age of 76.
No further information has been released including his assignment history during his career, or the number of allegations against him.
In April of 2020, the Archdiocese of New Orleans filed for bankruptcy protection.
