Msgr. John Peacock – Archdiocese of Baltimore

Monsignor John Peacock

Archdiocese of Baltimore

Ordained: 1934

Retired: 1973

Died: 1995

Assignment History:

  • 1934-1938: Our Lady of Good Counsel (Baltimore, MD)
  • 1938-1952: St. Andrew's Church (Baltimore, MD)
  • 1952-1973: Our Lady of Victory (Arbutus, MD)

Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Monsignor John Peacock:

Msgr. John Peacock was a Catholic priest and worked in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. In 2019, Msgr. Peacock was listed on the Archdiocese of Baltimore's Credibly Accused of Sexual Abuse of Minors list. In April 2023, Maryland's Attorney General released a report alleging 156 Catholic clergy members sexually abused at least 600 children over six decades. The report lists the names of the abusers, including Msgr. John Peacock.

According to the Attorney General's report, in 2006, a woman reported that Msgr. Peacock had sexually abused her in the 1960s when she was in 4th grade. The victim was a student at Our Lady of Victory, where she was sent to the rectory as a punishment. Msgr. Peacock then sexually abused the victim in the rectory.

According to the report, another woman reported in 2015 that she had been sexually abused by Msgr. Peacock in the 1950s, when she was in 2nd or 3rd grade. Msgr. Peacock entrenched himself in the victim's family after learning that the victim's father had physically abused her. Msgr. Peacock took the victim sailing and developed a close relationship with the victim. Msgr. Peacock also invited the victim to the rectory under the pretext of helping with housekeeping.

Msgr. Peacock retired in 1973 and died in 1995.
