Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations Against Brother Roger C. Argencourt
Brother Roger C. Argencourt, also known as Brother Odillion, was a member of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart religious order who served at Mount Saint Charles Academy in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. According to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s list of credibly accused clergy, Argencourt has been identified as credibly accused of child sexual misconduct in connection with the Diocese of Providence.
According to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s 2026 report, a former Mount Saint Charles Academy student reported to police in 2002 that Argencourt sexually abused him during the 1985-1986 school year when the student was approximately 12 or 13 years old. Argencourt was a teacher at Mount Saint Charles Academy during that time.
The report states that the alleged abuse occurred in the basement of Mount Saint Charles Academy after Argencourt asked the student to help carry school supplies. The student later disclosed the abuse to a counselor before reporting it to law enforcement. School records reportedly confirmed that both the student and Argencourt were at Mount Saint Charles Academy during that period.
The Rhode Island allegation was not the only reported claim involving Argencourt. According to BishopAccountability.org, multiple former students at Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, New Hampshire, also accused Argencourt of sexual abuse. One former student reportedly told police in January 2002 that Argencourt molested him between 20 and 40 times in 1973, when the student was a freshman at Bishop Guertin.
Another former Bishop Guertin student reportedly told police in 2002 that Argencourt sexually abused him when he was a student at the school around 1973 or 1974. Police said they had enough evidence, but Argencourt could not be prosecuted because the statute of limitations had expired.
At the time the Diocese learned of the Rhode Island allegation in June 2002, Argencourt was reportedly on leave and receiving treatment at Saint Luke Institute in Maryland. Authorities in Rhode Island were reportedly preparing to file charges involving the Mount Saint Charles Academy allegation when Argencourt died on Sept. 23, 2002.
Argencourt died before the Rhode Island allegation could be presented to a grand jury and was never criminally charged. He was later included in the Rhode Island Attorney General’s 2026 report on child sexual abuse in the Diocese of Providence.
