Summary of Sexual Abuse Against Father Leo A Kelty:

The Diocese of Trenton recently released a list of priests with credible allegations of child sexual abuse against them. Msgr. Leo A Kelty was on that list. The accusation against Kelty dates back 20 years.

According to media reports, Kelty was accused of inappropriately touching a young girl on more than two occasions in 2002. The Diocese reviewed the allegation and found it to be credible. Kelty agreed to a leave of absence and never returned to ministry.

By the time the allegations reached the District Attorney’s office, the case was far beyond the statute of limitations. The office dropped any pursuit toward criminal charges.

Kelty died in 2018 in good standing with the church.
