Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Barry Vinyard:
Prior to being ordained a priest, Fr. Barry Vinyard worked as a deacon at St. Joseph in Barstow in 1975. According to media reports, in 2003 a man filed a lawsuit alleging that Vinyard had sexually abused him from 1978 to 1979 while working at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Calexico. Vinyard denied the allegations. After the lawsuit was filed, Vinyard requested of the Bishop to retire in January 2004. The Diocese of San Diego revoked his faculties. He was referred to as the first actively serving priest in the diocese to be named in the lawsuit.
