Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Efrain Rozo Rincon:
Father Efrain Rozo Rincon was ordained a priest in 1953. He was an extern priest visiting from Colombia who worked briefly in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, at least one survivor has come forward alleging child sexual abuse by him in approximately 1969, while he worked at St. Clement in Santa Monica. He left the Archdiocese shortly after in 1969.
In February 2006, Father Rozo Rincon confessed under oath to sexually abusing his nephew and showing him porn from 1967 to 1969 while working in an L.A. parish and studying at Loyola Marymount. He also confessed to sexually abusing a 14-year-old seminarian in Colombia.
When the taped confession was broadcast in September 2006 in Bogota, the seminarian claimed that Rozo had raped him, and that other priests and a bishop had abused him too. In 2007, the Colombian church tribunal cleared Father Rozo Rincon on canonical statute of limitation grounds, commending his youth leadership.
Father Rozo Rincon has been named in at least one civil lawsuit. His name was included in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of priests accused of child sexual abuse. His current whereabouts are unknown.
