Summary of Abuse Allegations against Father Fidencio Simon Silva-Flores:

Father Fidencio Silva-Flores (aka Fidencio Flores Silva) was a member of the Missionaries of Holy Spirit religious order from Mexico who served in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. According to media reports, he was named in civil lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse. In May 1995, he left the Archdiocese without privileges and returned to Mexico shortly after he was accused of child sexual abuse. He was removed from ministry in 1998.

In 2002, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office filed 25 felony counts of child sexual abuse against him. He was accused by at least 28 people of child sexual abuse occurring between approximately 1979 and 1985, and named in at least 15 civil lawsuits. He was a godfather and a confirmation sponsor to some of his sexual abuse victims. Their claims were part of 2007 a $660 million settlement with 508 plaintiffs. One alleged victim filed a suit against the Vatican in October 2018.

Father Silva-Flores’ personnel file was released in January 2013. His name appeared on the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ list of clergy credibly accused of sex abuse of minors. His name also appeared on the Diocese of San Bernardino’s list of clergy credibly accused child sexual abuse. In May 2019, it was reported he was working at a church in Mexico. His current whereabouts are unknown.
