Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Paul Duggan:

Fr. Paul E. Duggan, a former Catholic priest with the Archdiocese of San Francisco, has been added to a list of clergy accused of sexual misconduct for allegedly abusing a child at St. Patrick Parochial School in San Jose, California during the 1950s.

According to media reports, the Archdiocese of San Francisco removed Duggan as a priest amidst the sexual abuse reports in 2002.

In 2019, Duggan was included on a list of priests in the Diocese of San Jose who was named as being “credibly accused” of child sex abuse. Very little is known of Duggan’s activities within the church as the Diocese of San Jose has not released all of the information about Duggan’s assignment history, specifically the years he was assigned to them. In addition, information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims, the nature of the alleged sexual abuse, or Duggan’s assignments at the time of the alleged abuse is unknown.

It is only noted that there was a report received in 2002 against Duggan in reference to abuse that took place in the 1950s at St. Patrick Parochial School in San Jose, California.

According to media reports, Duggan was a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve (Tactical Air Command and 349th Troop Carrier Wing) at Hamilton Air Force Base, and later became a pastor of St. Augustine Parish in South San Francisco, Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Daly City and St. Cecilia Parish in Lagunitas, according to The Catholic Voice. Paul served over time in chaplaincy assignments at the Veterans Administration Center in Los Angeles, the Veterans Administration Center in Palo Alto and Menlo Park, and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Duggan died in 2007.
