Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Father Charles Cassetta:

Fr. Charles Cassetta worked in the Buffalo, New York diocese prior to his assignment in Florida. Cassetta was a teacher at Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, Florida.

In 2003, Cassetta was accused in a lawsuit of sexually abusing a 17-year-old female student at least ten times in 1971-1972 at Cardinal Newman High School. In 2004, although there was a lawsuit that settled for $220K, Cassetta has denied the allegation and any wrongdoing.

At the time of the abuse, the Archdiocese of Miami had Cardinal Newman High School under control until the Diocese of Palm Beach was established in 1984.

According to media reports, Cassetta left the priesthood in 1975. Very little is known of Cassetta’s activities within the church as the Archdiocese of Miami has not released any information about Cassetta’s assignment history.

Cassetta left the priesthood, married, and was last known to be living in Maryland.
