Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Fr. Louis Senesac:

Fr. Louis Senesac was a member of the Clerics of St. Viator religious community, and served in the Diocese of Shreveport. According to media reports, in February 2019, the Diocese of Alexandria included Fr. Senesac’s name on its list of “religious priests, living and deceased, accused of sexual misconduct with minors while serving in the Diocese of Alexandria.” The list noted that an allegation of child sexual abuse involving a male minor in 1945 against Fr. Senesac came before the Permanent Review Board in 2019. The allegation was deemed credible. The details of the allegation, including the information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse are unknown. The list also notes that Senesac was removed from active ministry in the diocese, but the date of his removal was not listed.

In 2020, the Diocese of Shreveport released Fr. Senesac’s name under the heading, “priests who served in the former Diocese of Alexandria-Shreveport removed for sexual abuse of minors.” Prior to the founding of the Diocese of Shreveport in 1986, churches in the Shreveport area were under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Alexandria-Shreveport. According to church protocol, the files of accused clergy members remain with the Diocese of Alexandria.

Fr. Louis Senesac died in 1966.
