Summary of Sexual Abuse Allegations against Br. Kerry Guillory:
Br. Kerry Guillory was a brother with the Conventual Franciscan Friars who served in the Diocese of Lake Charles. According to media reports, in 2007, he was named in a lawsuit alleging that he repeatedly sexually abused a 13-year-old boy. The alleged abuse began in 1975 and continued for three years. The abuse occurred at St. Edward and San Jose churches and on road trips to El Paso, Dallas, and Houston, TX.
Fr. Guillory was accused of molesting and sodomizing the boy after supplying him with alcohol and marijuana. The suit also accused the parishes and the dioceses of concealing the abuse and negligence. According to media reports, two more suits were filed against Guillory in 2008 and 2009.
According to media reports, in 2019, Br. Guillory was named in a lawsuit alleging that he raped and sexually assaulted a 7-year-old boy on multiple occasions between 1972-1974. The alleged abuse occurred on the campus of St. Edward’s parish, where the victim was a student and parishioner. The suit also named the Conventual Franciscan Friars, Diocese of El Paso, the Diocese of Las Cruces, and St. Edward’s parish as defendants.
Br. Kerry Guillory’s name name was included on the Diocese of Las Cruces 2018 list of credibly accused clergy. His name also appears on the Diocese of El Paso’s 2019 list of credibly accused clergy.
His name was also included on the Diocese of Lake Charles 2019 list of clergy credibly accused of child sexual abuse. It noted that allegations of child sexual abuse in 1983 against Br. Guillory were received in 1986 and 2015. The alleged abuse occurred when Guillory was assigned to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Jennings, LA. Information about the age/gender of his alleged victim/victims and the nature of the alleged sexual abuse was not provided by the Diocese of Lake Charles.
His current whereabouts are unknown.
