Summary of Abuse Allegations Against Fr. John J. McCarthy:

Fr. John J. McCarthy was one of the priests identified by the Maryland Attorney General as having been accused of sexually abusing minors and having resided in or been assigned in the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

 

According to the Jesuit Order’s list of Jesuits with Credible Allegations of Sexual Abuse of a Minor, Fr. McCarthy was accused in 2005 of sexually abusing minors in the 1970’s. Fr. McCarthy was again accused in 2018 of sexually abusing minors in the 1970’s.

 

Fr. McCarthy’s name also appears on the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s list of priests accused of sexually abusing minors.

 

According to the Jesuit Order, Fr. McCarthy died in 1997.
