Attorneys Adam Horowitz and Jesse Seiden of Horowitz Law filed a lawsuit on September 1, 2026, in Palm Beach County against Dr. Andrew L. Sorial and Boca Raton Psychiatry, LLC, on behalf of eight former patients who allege that Dr. Sorial engaged in a pattern of sexual misconduct during virtual psychiatric treatment sessions.
The Complaint alleges that Dr. Sorial, while employed as a psychiatrist at Boca Raton Psychiatry, used telehealth appointments to pressure female patients into exposing their bodies, wearing progressively more revealing clothing, and sending intimate photographs under the guise of psychiatric treatment. The lawsuit further alleges that Boca Raton Psychiatry failed to investigate complaints, adequately supervise Dr. Sorial, or take reasonable steps to protect patients, despite receiving notice of inappropriate conduct.
Allegations Against Dr. Andrew Sorial
According to the Complaint filed by Horowitz Law, each of the eight plaintiffs received psychiatric treatment from Dr. Sorial through virtual appointments between approximately 2019 and 2025. The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Sorial exploited the psychiatrist-patient relationship by making requests and comments that served no legitimate psychiatric or medical purpose and instead were motivated by his own personal interests.
The lawsuit alleges that:
- Eight former patients have joined the lawsuit against Dr. Sorial and Boca Raton Psychiatry.
- Dr. Sorial allegedly pressured patients to wear progressively more revealing clothing during telehealth appointments.
- Patients were allegedly instructed to wear bikinis, sports bras, bras and underwear, or other revealing clothing during psychiatric sessions.
- Dr. Sorial allegedly requested that patients send intimate or revealing photographs of their bodies.
- Several plaintiffs allege Dr. Sorial pressured them to expose portions of their bodies during virtual appointments.
- The Complaint alleges Dr. Sorial made comments about patients' breasts, body shape, weight, and physical appearance that were unrelated to psychiatric treatment.
- Several plaintiffs allege they discontinued treatment because of Dr. Sorial's conduct.
The Complaint contains allegations from eight separate women, each describing different forms of alleged sexualized conduct during virtual psychiatric appointments. Among other allegations, plaintiffs claim Dr. Sorial requested revealing photographs, instructed patients to wear bikinis or other revealing clothing during appointments, commented on their bodies, and sought to view or photograph intimate areas of their bodies under circumstances unrelated to legitimate psychiatric care.
Allegations Against Boca Raton Psychiatry
The lawsuit also names Boca Raton Psychiatry, LLC as a defendant.
According to the Complaint, Boca Raton Psychiatry allegedly:
- Failed to adequately supervise Dr. Sorial.
- Failed to investigate complaints or warning signs regarding his conduct.
- Continued allowing Dr. Sorial to treat female patients despite receiving notice of inappropriate conduct.
- Failed to discipline, suspend, restrict, monitor, or terminate Dr. Sorial before additional patients were allegedly harmed.
- Provided the telehealth platform and infrastructure through which the alleged misconduct occurred.
The lawsuit asserts claims against Boca Raton Psychiatry for respondeat superior (vicarious liability) and negligent retention and supervision. It also brings claims against Dr. Sorial for intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of fiduciary duty.

The lawsuit seeks damages against both Dr. Sorial and Boca Raton Psychiatry for the injuries the plaintiffs allege they suffered as a result of the defendants' conduct.
Prior Disciplinary Action
The lawsuit follows disciplinary action previously taken by the Florida Department of Health against Dr. Andrew Sorial.
On January 21, 2026, the Florida Surgeon General issued an Emergency Suspension Order suspending Dr. Sorial's medical license after concluding that he had abused his position of trust and authority over female psychiatric patients. Sorial, 43, has been licensed in Florida since 2017 and also held a medical license in Massachusetts. The Complaint also notes that Dr. Sorial later entered into a voluntary agreement not to practice medicine in Massachusetts.
