A Clearwater Publix Employee Arrested for Engaging in Sexual Activity with Teen

On June 27, 2025, David Neumann, a Publix employee in Clearwater, FL, was arrested after admitting to engaging in sexual activity with a seventeen-year-old girl. Neumann, age 37, worked in the produce department at Publix in the Island Village Shopping Center. He faces a second-degree charge for unlawful sexual activity with a minor and one first-degree charge for contributing to the delinquency or dependency. According to the arrest affidavit, the incident occurred on June 8th, when Neumann took the minor to his home and engaged in sexual activity.

Media reports say that Neumann also bought a marijuana vape pen for the minor and smoked it with her in his vehicle at his home, police said.  Publix disclosed that Neumann is no longer employed by them. He will be required to wear an ankle monitor until the hearing. He also been ordered to have no contact with the victim. In 2019, Neumann was charged with Exposure of Sexual Organs. In 2011, he was charged with a second degree felony of Throwing a Deadly Missile Into/At/Within an Occupied Vehicle.

This is not the first Publix employee to be charged with sexual misconduct in Florida. In 2022, a Publix employee from Miami was charge with lewd/lascivious battery and molestation on a child between 12-16 years old.

Important Notes:

  • In Florida, the legal age of consent is 18.
  • Sexual activity with someone under 18 can lead to serious legal consequences, including felony charges, even if it appears physically consensual.
