Miami Nurse Technician Adelekan Samuel Sijuwadwe Arrested on Sexual Battery Charge in Opa-Locka

On May 10, 2025, nurse technician Adelekan Samuel Sijuwadwe was arrested by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office for allegedly sexually assaulting a female patient at Jackson Community Mental Health Center. Sijuwadwe, 52, faces a serious criminal charge categorized under sexual battery and child abuse.

Arrest Details for Adelekan Samuel Sijuwadwe

According to media reports, Sijuwadwe was working as a nurse tech at Jackson Community Mental Health located at 15055 N.W. 27th Avenue, in Opa Locka, FL. A 19-year-old female patient was receiving a mental health evaluation when the alleged sexual assault took place. The victim claims that while she was lying naked in her room, Sijuwadwe came in and asked if he could touch her, and rubbed her privates with his fingers. The victim reported that Sijuwadwe asked if she was a stripper and requested that she dance for him. Sijuwadwe then grabbed her by her head and forced her to perform a sex act, the report said.

The formal complaint was filed on May 11, 2025, initiating the legal process. Sijuwadwe was arrested and booked into jail. He appeared shortly thereafter, during which a bond hearing was held. Bond was set at $15,000. Sijuwadwe now awaits his arraignment hearing, set for June 9, 2025, where formal charges will be reviewed and the defendant will enter a plea.

In a statement released by the Jackson Health System, the system states that Sijuwadwe has worked as a mental health specialist at the facility since 2020 and has subsequently been fired.

"Jackson Health System is cooperating with law enforcement following the arrest of Samuel Sijuwadwe," the statement read. "The safety of our patients, families and employees is our top priority and we have a zero-tolerance policy against any type of violence in our facilities."

Horowitz Law: Advocating for Victims of Sexual Misconduct

Finding the right medical provider can be a challenging task. We seek seasoned professionals who possess excellent bedside manner and empathy. When patients finally decide on one, they hope to feel better over time and not be violated by the very person with whom we place our trust. Healthcare providers hold a position of power in the physician-patient relationship. It is both unacceptable and unlawful for a healthcare professional to touch a patient in any sexual manner or practice any sexual misconduct while treating the patient.

Horowitz Law has filed numerous sexual misconduct claims against medical professionals on behalf of patients who were inappropriately touched in their care. Under no circumstances is a doctor or nurse permitted to have sexual contact with a patient.
