Se’Jour Deangelo Fulks, an employee of HCA Florida West Largo Hospital, has been arrested and charged following allegations that he sexually battered patients receiving treatment in the hospital’s mental health unit.
Fulks, 28, was arrested on May 12, 2026, and charged with three counts of sexual battery involving vulnerable adults. According to media reports, Fulks reportedly worked as a certified nursing technician at HCA Florida West Largo Hospital in Pinellas County for approximately four months before his arrest.
Reports have also revealed that Fulks previously pleaded guilty to felony charges involving the exploitation of elderly individuals while working as a caregiver at an assisted living facility.
Allegations Against Se’Jour D. Fulks
According to the Largo Police Department, Fulks sexually battered patients while employed at HCA Florida West Largo Hospital.
Authorities allege that:
- Fulks worked as a certified nursing technician at HCA Florida West Largo Hospital
- Fulks allegedly sexually battered patients receiving treatment in the hospital’s mental health unit
- Investigators initially identified two alleged victims
- Fulks was arrested on May 12, 2026, and charged with sexual battery offenses involving vulnerable patients
- Following news coverage of the arrest, a third patient reportedly came forward with similar allegations
- Detectives continue to investigate whether additional victims may exist
According to court records, the allegations involve incidents in which Fulks allegedly initiated unsolicited massages that escalated to sexual conduct. Prosecutors allege the victims repeatedly told him to stop. Fulks has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to an arrest affidavit, a third patient came forward after family members saw news coverage of Fulks’ arrest and encouraged him to report the alleged abuse. The affidavit states that surveillance video showed the patient becoming “startled” and “slightly jump(ed) backward” when Fulks allegedly touched him in a hospital hallway.
Fulks' Prior Felony Record
According to media reports, Fulks previously worked as a caregiver at an assisted living facility in Largo.
In 2018, he pleaded guilty to felony charges, including fraudulent use of a credit card and exploitation of the elderly, after authorities accused him of stealing credit cards from elderly residents and making unauthorized purchases.
The disclosure of Fulks’ prior convictions has raised questions regarding how he came to be employed in a hospital setting where he had access to vulnerable patients. Media reports indicate that healthcare facilities licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration are generally required to conduct Level 2 background screenings of employees.
“We can confirm that a level 2 background check was completed,” HCA Florida West Largo spokesperson Tiffany Briggs said in a statement to the Tampa Bay Times."
Briggs did not respond to follow-up questions regarding whether the hospital was aware of Fulks’ prior criminal record or whether it appeared during the screening process.
Healthcare Workers Occupy Positions of Trust
When patients seek medical care, they do so in a state of physical and emotional vulnerability. Healthcare workers are entrusted with access to patients only for legitimate treatment and caregiving purposes.
Patients receiving treatment in hospitals and mental health facilities are particularly dependent upon healthcare providers and staff members for their safety and well-being. Sexual contact between a healthcare worker and a patient is a serious violation of professional boundaries and may constitute criminal conduct.
The allegations against Se’Jour Deangelo Fulks describe repeated abuses of this trust involving patients who were receiving mental health treatment and relied upon hospital staff for care and protection.
